My Pueblo Jobs Act will support at least 1,000 jobs in Pueblo by closing a loophole in the Pueblo Chemical Depot closure process. I’ve been connected to the Home of Heroes since well before I was sworn into Congress, my flagship District office is in Pueblo, one of my first actions in office was to visit the Pueblo Chemical Depot, I recently attended the changing of command at the Depot for incoming Commander Col. Rodney McCutcheon, and now I am delivering results for the great people of Pueblo that entrusted me to be their voice in Congress. I look forward to my bipartisan bill being signed into law that will help facilitate job growth and economic development while investing in Pueblo’s future.

The Upper Colorado and San Juan Recovery Programs are success stories that have helped reduce the listing status of two fish species. I introduced this bill to support Colorado wildlife, create certainty for water and power users, protect water rights by ensuring Endangered Species Act compliance, and bring together multiple sources of funding to invest in rural Colorado. I look forward to this bipartisan bill continuing to move through the legislative process and being signed into law.

Hearing
June 23, 2023
The CONVEY Act empowers local communities and jumpstarts rural economies through innovative solutions that reduce our federal footprint and cut bureaucratic red tape that is stifling economic growth. The economic potential of this land will allow Mesa County to attract job creators and foster an environment that encourages economic prosperity for Clifton. Witnesses at this important legislative hearing praised the CONVEY Act and urged Congress to quickly move it through the legislative process. I am grateful for Mesa County and the Bureau of Land Management’s work on this issue, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to finally get this done.

My commonsense amendment provides transparency for the American people and exposes the costs and arbitrary processes used by Biden’s minions to ram through his socialist housing policy that penalizes responsible homeowners to subsidize high-risk individuals. Unelected bureaucrats in Washington should not have the ability to impose these un-American regulations on hardworking middle-class families. This is a gross overreach and will ultimately exacerbate the growing inflation problem we have in this country.

Joe Biden’s unconstitutional dereliction of his Article II duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed warrants impeachment. He has willfully created a border crisis that has enabled the horrific trafficking of children. As a mother, it breaks my heart to watch Joe Biden turn a blind eye to victims of child sex trafficking. Biden’s Border Crisis has allowed millions of illegal aliens to pour into our country, threatened our national security, and killed more than 100,000 Americans from fentanyl—including more than 1,800 Coloradans. I am pleased that House leadership worked with me on my impeachment bill to protect our constitutional republic. As demonstrated in this victory, I will continue to use every available procedural tool to hold Joe Biden accountable and advance impeachment proceedings.

Land Use
June 16, 2023
Biden’s bureaucrats at the Bureau of Land Management are proposing a rule that would lock up our public lands from multiple uses like grazing, mining, recreation, and energy production. This rule will harm western communities by halting fire risk-reduction activities, stripping grazing rights away from farmers and ranchers, and further waging war on American energy. I cosponsored H.R. 3397 to protect multiple use on public lands, and I held Biden’s Bureau of Land Management bureaucrat accountable for this attempted government takeover of our public lands during today’s hearing.

My Western Water Accelerated Revenue Repayment Act had an important legislative hearing today and received resounding praise from the witnesses. This common-sense bill follows bipartisan precedent by allowing agriculture and municipal water users to prepay what they owe to the federal government for water delivery and water storage costs. This bill is good for taxpayers and generates early revenue for the Treasury while still ensuring obligations are repaid in full. H.R. 3675 also reduces extensive paperwork requirements and removes overly restrictive acreage limits for water users that have repaid their obligations. I look forward to this important bill continuing to move forward in the legislative process.

All four of my commonsense amendments this week passed the House with strong bipartisan support. These amendments will increase transparency, enhance government oversight, and hold the Biden administration accountable. I am delivering legislative solutions for the people of Colorado’s Third District.

ATF wants to make the owners of nearly 40 million firearms with stabilizing braces felons overnight. It defies commonsense that the same unelected bureaucrats who gave away thousands of firearms to members of the Mexican cartels are trying to tell lawful American firearm owners that they can’t carry a pistol with a stabilizing brace without it being classified as a short-barrel rifle and receiving absurd penalties. Veterans that rely on pistol braces to responsibly shoot at the range shouldn’t receive jail time, be fined $250,000, and be issued a felony charge for simply having a stabilizing brace on their lawfully purchased firearm. The U.S. Senate needs to immediately follow the House’s lead and block this unconstitutional gun grab that Congress never authorized.
