On Wednesday, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert along with several members of the Congressional Western Caucus sent a letter to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director Tracy Stone-Manning urging her to rescind the proposed withdrawal of 1.6 million acres in Colorado from future oil and gas leasing. On August 4th, 2023, the Bureau of Land Management published a draft resource management plan (RMP) for the Colorado River Valley Field Office (CRVFO) and Grand Junction Field Office (GJFO). This plan could remove over 1.6 million acres of public lands in Colorado from future oil and gas leasing and establish nine different "Areas of Critical Environmental Concern" (ACECs) on over 100,000 acres of BLM land.

Big win today as my fish bill passed the Natural Resources Committee with unanimous, bipartisan support. This crucial step brings us closer to safeguarding four endangered fish species and providing long-term certainty for 2,500 water and power users that benefit from the program and would have to perform extremely burdensome Section 7 consultations for all 2,500 individual projects without it. These projects, serve various needs, utilizing over 3.69 million acre-feet of water each year. With strong bicameral, bipartisan momentum and significant stakeholder support, I'm confident that this bill will become law and this important program will be reauthorized

While many Members of Congress were on break for six weeks, I certainly was not. I spent that time working hard traveling Colorado’s Third Congressional District and meeting with the great people I am honored to represent.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel about the agency’s plans to tax Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (TABOR) refunds for Coloradans. In 1992, Colorado enacted the TABOR amendment, which imposes constraints on the amount of tax revenue retained by the state, mandating the return of any surplus revenue to our taxpayers. The IRS has consistently refrained from categorizing TABOR refunds as taxable income. This historical practice aligns with the IRS's traditional respect for states' autonomy in designing and administering tax refund procedures. Maintaining this course of action makes logical sense and has been a consistent practice.

Biden’s Bureau of Land Management just announced two land grabs to kill responsible oil and gas leasing on Colorado’s West Slope. Locking up another 1.6 million acres at a time when gas prices are skyrocketing just shows how out of touch this administration is with rural America. Families in the Third District depend on these jobs to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. I stand with Colorado’s roughnecks against this misguided overreach by federal bureaucrats that seeks to lockup our land and that will further increase pain at the pump.

Space Command will stay in Colorado, its rightful home. I worked in a bipartisan and bicameral fashion with Congressman Lamborn and all Members of the Colorado delegation to set politics aside and put Colorado first. When Russia and China are developing lasers to destroy U.S. satellites, we should not be wasting time considering moving Space Command’s headquarters for political reasons. Our successful effort will keep thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars here in Colorado, including good-paying jobs for people that live in Pueblo.
