By redirecting funds from the bureaucracy towards direct care for veterans, my six amendments that passed the House will deliver real results for veterans across Colorado’s Third District. From increasing funds for prosthetic research to reducing the backlog at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, and from increasing suicide prevention resources for a program that has provided significant funding to the Third District to constructing new extended care facilities, my amendments will directly improve the quality of life for veterans across Colorado’s Third District.
Rep. Boebert Bill Assisting Water Users by Cutting Red Tape Passes House Natural Resources Committee
July 26, 2023
My Western Water Accelerated Revenue Repayment Act passing the House Committee on Natural Resources means we are one step closer to empowering water users to payoff what they owe the federal government early and be free of burdensome regulations. This early repayment will generate hundreds of millions for new water infrastructure and water storage, generate early revenue for the Treasury, and decrease federal paperwork requirements and operating costs for water users. This commonsense bill will permanently benefit water users and agriculture throughout the country.

I am excited that my CONVEY Act benefiting Mesa County passed the House Committee on Natural Resources. This common-sense bill directs the Secretary of the Interior to convey 31 acres, currently on the disposal list, to Mesa County for economic development in Clifton. Mesa County will purchase the land for fair market value. My bill will help Mesa County cut through the federal bureaucracy, bring jobs to Clifton, incentivize businesses to invest in the area, and create long-term economic growth for the region. I look forward to this bill passing the House and being signed into law as I continue to deliver legislative results for the people of Colorado’s Third District.

20 for 20 of my amendments have passed the House—19 of which had strong bipartisan support. My record of delivering legislative results for Colorado’s Third District speaks for itself. My two bipartisan amendments that passed the House will increase government transparency by requiring the FAA to make publicly available to the American people a report on the costs and inefficiencies associated with COVID-era-telework and a report on how Green New Deal policies are negatively impacting electric grid resiliency. The American people deserve to see what their tax dollars are going towards, and they have a right to know more about both of these important matters.

The Disinformation Governance Board was a terrible idea to begin with, and my Protecting Free Speech Act ensures that it stays where it belongs: the ash heap of history. I killed this Board with my public pressure campaign last year, and my bill will change the law to make sure it stays dead. Such an egregious attack on free speech should never again be proposed by the government of a free people.

I’m excited to announce that the House Appropriations Committee has approved over $19.7 million for 10 important water and infrastructure projects that I requested be funded in Colorado’s Third District. These include important resources for expanding water storage, improving water quality, funding water treatment plants, building new water supply lines, reducing congestion on I-70, and building roads and bridges. I am delivering results for Colorado’s Third District, and all ten of my congressionally directed spending requests passed wither the Subcommittee or full Appropriations Committee. While this is great news and we are in a strong position with these projects being included with the base bills, I will not rest until funding for these 10 important water and infrastructure projects is signed into law.

It is Congress’s job to ensure that our nation’s most precious resource, its sons and daughters, mothers and fathers who answered the call to serve in uniform have the best chance to come home to their families and have the necessary resources to accomplish their missions. I’m also thrilled we secured a major win for Pueblo by passing my Pueblo Jobs Act as a provision in the National Defense Authorization Act. I look forward to my bipartisan bill being signed into law that will helping facilitate job growth and economic development while investing in Pueblo’s future.

My Pueblo Jobs Act will support at least 1,000 jobs in Pueblo by closing a loophole in the Pueblo Chemical Depot closure process. I’ve been connected to the Home of Heroes since well before I was sworn into Congress, my flagship District office is in Pueblo, one of my first actions in office was to visit the Pueblo Chemical Depot, I recently attended the changing of command at the Depot for incoming Commander Col. Rodney McCutcheon, and now I am delivering results for the great people of Pueblo that entrusted me to be their voice in Congress. I look forward to my bipartisan bill being signed into law that will help facilitate job growth and economic development while investing in Pueblo’s future.

The Upper Colorado and San Juan Recovery Programs are success stories that have helped reduce the listing status of two fish species. I introduced this bill to support Colorado wildlife, create certainty for water and power users, protect water rights by ensuring Endangered Species Act compliance, and bring together multiple sources of funding to invest in rural Colorado. I look forward to this bipartisan bill continuing to move through the legislative process and being signed into law.
