Rep. Boebert Transparency Amendment Passes House with Strong Bipartisan Support

May 17, 2023

Today, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert passed an amendment through the House with strong bipartisan support that will promote accountability and transparency for removing criminal aliens. Specifically, Congresswoman Boebert’s amendment requires the Department of Homeland Security to annually report to Congress and publish on its website how many illegal aliens are deported for assaulting law enforcement officers.

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert stated, “It is shocking that illegal aliens assaulting law enforcement isn’t already codified as a deportable offense. Holding criminal aliens accountable for violence against law enforcement officers is just common sense. Rather than wasting time on the Democrats’ agenda to keep our southern border wide open and defunding the police, House Republicans are proud to ‘Back the Blue’ and have proposed policy solutions like the underlying bill to put an end to Biden’s border crisis.

“My commonsense amendment requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to create an annual report on the number of illegal aliens deported for assaulting law enforcement officers. This will promote accountability and transparency for the removal of these criminal aliens. The American people have a right to know if illegal aliens are attacking law enforcement officers and to what extent.”

Background:

Congresswoman Boebert’s transparency and accountability amendment passed the House 303-126 with strong bipartisan support.

Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerrold Nadler did not oppose Rep. Boebert’s bipartisan amendment during debate on the House Floor.

Congresswoman Boebert has been an extremely effective legislator in the 118th Congress and has now passed two bills through the House of Representatives with bipartisan support and passed ten of ten amendments through the House, nine of which had strong bipartisan support.

The complete and total invasion taking place at our southern border has made America less safe. Biden’s Border Crisis has opened the door to human traffickers, gang members, and other dangerous criminals who enter our country with malicious intent, threatening the safety of our citizens and our police officers who serve as our first line of defense against crime.

Earlier this year, a female Border Patrol agent was violently attacked by a male alien while attempting to make an arrest.

Last year, two law enforcement officers were injured by an illegal alien when responding to a disturbance in New York. One officer suffered a concussion and the other had a broken hand.
