ICYMI: REP. BOEBERT PASSES FOUR AMENDMENTS IN DEFENSE BILL

Washington D.C. - In case you missed it, Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-04) passed four amendments to the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act to strengthen the Colorado Air National Guard, protect military installations from drone threats, halt the Chinese Communist Party’s growing influence on college campuses, and prevent the acquisition of vehicles produced by child and slave labor.

“My amendments strengthen our national security, protect American freedom, and give our service members the tools they need to succeed,” said Rep. Boebert. 

Modernize Colorado’s Air National Guard

• Requires the Secretary of the Air Force to present a comprehensive plan to modernize the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard at Buckley Space Force Base. The 140th still flies aging 1980s-era F-16s that lack modern radar and mission systems. Without recapitalization, the Wing’s aircraft face retirement and put homeland defense at risk.

Secure Military Bases from Drone Threats

• Requires the Secretary of War to outline a plan to secure all U.S. military installations against drone threats. Cheap, high-speed drones are now a serious combat and intelligence threat. This amendment ensures America adapts and keeps our service members safe.

Expose CCP Influence on College Campuses

• Forces the Department of War to report on any college or university that has received War Department funding and hosted a Confucius Institute. These CCP-backed institutes have operated for more than two decades as intelligence and propaganda tools. This amendment exposes their presence.

Ban Vehicles Made with Child and Slave Labor

• Prohibits the acquisition, procurement, or lease of non-tactical electric vehicles containing any component produced by child or slave labor. Much of the cobalt used in EV batteries comes from places where child labor and slavery are common. This amendment pushes industry toward American critical minerals and advances true energy independence.

Background: The House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in late July. The NDAA is Congress’s annual defense policy bill. It sets priorities, provides authorities, and recommends funding levels for the Department of War, military personnel, weapons systems, research and development, operations, military construction, and related national security programs.
