HONORING OUR VETERANS
On this Veterans Day week, I am grateful for all who have stepped forward to answer the call to serve our nation. Because of their sacrifices, we are all able to enjoy our freedoms every day.
Two weeks ago, 97% of survey respondents said that veterans deserve the best care and support possible. I am working to deliver excellent care for our veterans and to fulfill America’s promise to them. That is why I have been working towards getting the VA back to its central mission “to care for him who shall have borne the battle.”
The best way to honor veterans’ tremendous sacrifice is to enjoy the liberty that they fought for and to respect the Constitution they swore an oath to uphold. Because of their service, I am committed to stand up for freedom and American values.
POLL RESULTS: AMERICANS SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE
Last week, 88% of survey respondents answered that the Second Amendment encompasses the right to carry a firearm outside of your home for self-defense. I am proud to have stood up for your Second Amendment rights by filing an amicus brief with the Supreme Court arguing just that. If the Supreme Court rules correctly, we will secure the biggest win for the Second Amendment in over a decade.
DEFENDING AMERICAN TAXPAYERS
One of the biggest threats to American freedom is big government. Biden’s so-called “bipartisan infrastructure” bill is a disaster for American families.
As I’ve said from the beginning, if Biden’s disastrous “infrastructure” bill were to pass, it would be because some America-last “Republicans” sided with the Democrats. Unfortunately, last week my prediction came true as 13 RINOs voted to spend $1.2 trillion on a pilot program to tax drivers on a per-mile basis, decimate American energy by increasing reliance on OPEC, and create red tape for cryptocurrency all while spending $7.5 billion dollars to electrify buses. This bill has little to nothing to do with infrastructure – it is simply a down payment on the Green New Deal. I am proud to have stood with the majority of my Republican colleagues in voting against this thinly-veiled attempt at socialism.
Inflation rose 6.2% last month thanks to Democrats’ irresponsible spending. While bureaucrats and career politicians don’t feel the heavy effects of inflation, everyday Americans across Colorado’s Third Congressional District are picking up the tab for their recklessness.
As the ridiculousness of the European climate conference was on full display, it was clear that Biden doesn’t care about working Americans. If Biden just spent some time with regular blue-collar folks, he’d know these pie-in-the-sky spending schemes and Green New Deal policies simply don’t work for American families trying to pay their bills.
INTRODUCING A BILL TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN
I introduced the House companion to Senator Mike Lee’s Protecting our Kids from Harmful Research Act to prohibit tax dollars from funding life-altering and disabling procedures for minors suffering from gender dysphoria. Dr. Fauci’s NIH has awarded almost $7 million to experiment on sex-change operations for children as young as eight-years-old, and the Biden regime opted to extend this barbaric research until 2026.
Even Obama’s public health officials admitted this research is dangerous, highly speculative, irreversible, and ineffective. In fact, physical transitioning is not an effective treatment to gender dysphoria in minors as studies indicate that without intervention, 70-98% of males and 50-88% of females will no longer desire to transition after undergoing puberty.
I’ve been standing strong on this issue. In October, I led a letter with Colorado Republican Congressmen Ken Buck and Doug Lamborn blasting the Biden regime for requiring Medicaid, Medicare, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and private insurers to cover permanent, life-altering sex-change surgeries for minors in Colorado. The Biden regime’s new policy uses taxpayer dollars to fund horrific procedures like puberty blockers, surgical sterilization, eye and lid modifications, medically unnecessary mastectomies, breast implants, and life-altering irreversible drugs.
This isn’t the only barbaric research the NIH has funded. I’ve called for investigations into the NIH’s funding of harvesting aborted babies’ organs, having insects eat dogs’ faces off, and gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China. It’s time for Congress to step up and do its job.
ELECTED TO BOARD OF THE HOUSE FREEDOM CAUCUS
I am incredibly honored to have been elected by my peers to serve on the Board of the House Freedom Caucus as a freshman member of Congress. These men and women of faith serve with real conviction and are in Congress for the right reasons.
The Freedom Caucus is the group that is closest to the people and effectively represents the forgotten men and women of America. When candidates run on conservative principles, they win. But when we legislate conservative policies, the American people win. In this new leadership position, I look forward to continuing to work with the conservative champions in the Freedom Caucus to put forth the solutions that the American people need and take back this great country.
