Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving we have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for my family, this country, and those who have fought and sacrificed so much for us to be able to celebrate together with family and friends across Colorado’s 3rd District and this great nation. We have much to be thankful for. America as a nation has endured many hardships, but we have also been blessed beyond measure to call the greatest nation on earth home. For that alone we should be thankful.

Here in America, we have a deep and rich tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving—in good times and in bad. It is a tradition that is rooted in the struggles we’ve overcome as individuals and as a nation, the milestones we’ve achieved, and celebrating what we’ve built as a people. It is a time to sit down and remember where we’ve been and give thanks for overcoming, growing, and pushing ever forward.

Just as those pilgrims celebrating the first Thanksgiving had much to be thankful for after a long and arduous journey across the Atlantic and a harsh New England winter, so we have much to be thankful for in our everyday lives and in the life of our nation. We have weathered droughts and economic collapses, terrorist attacks on our own soil and countless wars, yet we are still standing tall. And while we stop to remember those who gave their lives to ensure that we remain free, we remember and are thankful for those sacrifices that allow us to sit around our Thanksgiving tables with our loved ones.

That we have overcome so much and have so much to be thankful for is a testament to the American spirit. It is a testament to the American will and resolve to overcome those mountains that stand in our way.

I give thanks for each and every hard-working American from our district, and as you celebrate all the things in your life that you are thankful for, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
