Caring for Colorado
Scripture tells us to mourn with those who mourn and reminds us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. This week has been heavy for our state, and it is a time for grieving and for recognizing heroes like Officer Eric Talley and Denny Stong who gave their lives so that others might live. We will always remember the lives of Kevin Mahoney, Teri Leiker, Rikki Olds, Lynn Murray, Tralona Bartkowiak, Suzanne Fountain, Denny Stong, Jody Waters, Officer Eric Talley, and Neven Stanisic.
Our hearts are heavy, but the answer is not to politicize this tragedy and use it as an excuse to strip away constitutional rights. The Founders understood that our God-given liberties should never be taken away—especially during times of crisis.
Ending the Crisis at our Southern Border
This week, I continued to expose the tragedy happening on our southern border. Thousands of minors are being trafficked across the border by cartels, and the administration is not allowing reporters to visit border facilities. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are continuing to flood America as result of Biden’s open border policies and the termination of actual solutions implemented by the Trump administration like the Remain in Mexico program. The lack of a responsible and accountable immigration policy that puts America first is unacceptable, and it is hurting our country for the sake of political theater.
I have continually advocated for border security, building the wall, getting rid of policies that provide amnesty and incentivize illegal immigration, and restoring law and order. I introduced the Secure the Southern Border Act and the No Amnesty Act to end the border crisis and protect our communities.
Keeping our Communities Safe
I introduced a bill to designate ANTIFA as a domestic terrorist organization. When a group targets the home of a sitting U.S. Senator, burns down cities across the country, and murders Americans because of their political beliefs, it would normally be designated a terrorist organization. Instead, Democrats are fundraising to bail them out of prison.
Opposing violent extremist terrorist organizations used to be a bi-partisan issue, but now Democrats are putting their radical left supporters ahead of national security. Even the Obama administration classified ANTIFA efforts as “domestic terrorist violence.” Now, the Democrats are pretending that ANTIFA is a myth.
It is time to put the safety of the American people ahead of politics and designate ANTIFA as a terrorist organization and declare that ALL political violence has no place in our great Nation.
Working for You
I introduced legislation ensuring that political retribution does not hurt constituents in need of federal assistance. My bill ensures that outgoing members of Congress will pass on their casework to their successor so that veterans having issues with the VA, retirees having trouble with Social Security, and ranchers having problems with federal land management agencies will still have a representative advocating on their behalf.
My predecessor declined to pass on inheritable casework to my office. My passion is serving the people of Colorado’s Third Congressional District, so if you have any trouble with a federal agency, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you.
