Rep. Lauren Boebert Named Vice Chair of Natural Resources Subcommittee

January 10, 2025

Congresswoman will serve on Subcommittees on Oversight and Investigations & Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries

WASHINGTON D.C.-- House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) announced Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) will serve as the Vice Chair for the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations for the 119th Congress. Congresswoman Boebert will also continue serving on the Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries.

"We must demand accountability and efficiency from agencies who oversee our ranchers, farmers, and energy developers instead of allowing bureaucrats to harm production in these industries and trample the rights of Americans," said Congresswoman Boebert. "The responsible management of water, public lands, and our valuable natural resources is critical to returning our country to prosperity and ensuring states like Colorado can thrive in the near future and over the course of the next generation. I look forward to working with Chairman Westerman and all of my colleagues on Natural Resources this Congress to continue fighting for common-sense policies on water, energy development, and public land use."

"Congresswoman Boebert is a fighter for common sense in our government and has consistently worked to hold our officials accountable for waste, fraud and abuse," said Chairman Westerman. "She is a true asset to the House Committee on Natural Resources and will serve as a leader on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations to continue to fight for her constituents and the American people."

Background:

The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is charged with the oversight of federal agencies like the Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior, Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. In conjunction with President-elect Donald J. Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, the Subcommittee will focus on improving efficiencies within these agencies and saving taxpayer dollars while working to hold bad actors accountable and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

In the previous Congress, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations worked to hold the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) accountable for their misguided gray wolf recovery plan and exposed the Bureau of Land Management's attempts to delay and obstruct the permitting process for new mines.
