Bipartisan Solutions for Colorado
INTRODUCING THE HOUSE COMPANION TO THE BIPARTISAN DOLORES RIVER NATIONAL CONSERVATION AREA AND SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA ACT
I introduced H.R. 8601 as the bipartisan House Companion to Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper’s bill to designate part of the Dolores River Corridor as a National Conservation Area and Special Management Area while protecting private water rights.
After nearly two decades in the making, this well-crafted legislation ensures traditional uses like grazing, uranium mining and other mineral extraction, and motorized-vehicle use will continue.
Most importantly, this bill will remove the Dolores River from consideration as a Wild and Scenic River (WSR) designation by the Bureau of Land Management. A WSR designation would not be in the best interest of rural Colorado since it would include a new federal reserved water right and prevent the aforementioned uses, negatively impacting existing private water and property rights. I am a strong advocate for protecting private water rights, which is why I introduced this legislation and the Western Water Security Act to prevent federal water grabs.

HONORING AN AMERICAN HERO WHO STOPPED AN ACTIVE SHOOTING
I introduced a House Resolution honoring twenty-two-year-old Elisjsha Dicken, who defended his fellow citizens by stopping an active shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana. When an active shooter opened fire in the mall’s food court, Eli sprung into action and engaged the shooter with his 9mm Glock.
While many career politicians are working to disarm law-abiding citizens like Eli, I’m committed to ensuring that we uphold the Constitutional right to defend one’s self. I defend the Second Amendment to stand with heroes like Eli who put their own lives on the line to protect others. Eli’s choice to exercise his constitutional right to self-defense saved countless lives, and I am grateful for his bravery.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, COLORADO!
146 years ago this week, Colorado became the 38th state. I am forever grateful to represent the greatest state in the Union, and I strive to bring Colorado values to Congress. I will never stop advocating for the West’s way of life, and I will keep working to make sure that politicians and bureaucrats understand how their decisions in Washington, D.C. impact folks on the ground.

APPLICATION NOW OPEN FOR SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATION
With the start of the next school year right around the corner, now is a great time for high school students interested in serving our country by attending a U.S. Service Academy to apply for a nomination from my office. Last year, I nominated 15 outstanding students from Colorado’s Third District to attend the U.S. Service Academies, and I look forward to nominating another remarkable group of students this year.
If you or a high school student you know are interested in receiving a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy, apply through my office before the October 14th deadline.
BOEBERT BLAST
Colorado Politics, Denver Gazette: Democrats plan to suppress Colorado energy, jobs
“‘Biden’s latest Colorado land grab is another example of this radical regime’s deliberate assault on American energy and the economy,’ Boebert said. ‘While Coloradans are facing historically high gas prices, the Biden regime is using every excuse and tactic in the book to block responsible domestic energy production.’”
Fox News, Boebert introducing resolution honoring Indiana mall hero, no Democrats sign on
“Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., is introducing a House resolution honoring the Indiana mall hero who took down an active shooter with a legal firearm in 15 seconds. Elisjsha Dicken saved the lives of mall-goers in just 15 seconds when he neutralized a man opening fire in Greenwood, Indiana. Police said Dicken hit the attacker, who later died of his wounds, with eight out of ten shots. Dicken’s heroic act made national media attention, and now GOP lawmakers in Congress want to recognize the life-saving ‘Good Samaritan.’”
Washington Times, Boebert resolution honors ‘true American hero’ Elisjsha Dicken for stopping active shooter
“Rep. Lauren Boebert, Colorado Republican, introduced a resolution Thursday commending Elisjsha Dicken, the 22-year-old bystander who shot and killed a mass shooter earlier this month in Greenwood, Indiana. The resolution co-sponsored by a dozen House Republicans and no Democrats, salutes Mr. Dicken for his ‘uncommon courage in defending his fellow citizens against an armed shooter at a mall in Greenwood, Indiana, on July 17, 2022.’ ‘Elisjsha Dicken is an American hero worthy of recognition and honor,’ said Ms. Boebert in a statement. ‘Eli’s act of bravery saved countless lives and inspired millions more. While many career politicians are working to disarm law-abiding citizens like Eli, I’m committed to ensuring that we uphold the Constitutional right to defend one’s self.’”
Breitbart, GOP Rep. Boebert: ‘Gun Rights are Women’s Rights’
“‘The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting,’ Rep. Boebert said…‘It’s actually an equalizer. Gun rights are women’s rights. And I need an equalizer to defend myself against a larger potential aggressor. That’s why most people carry. So they have a way to defend themselves.’”
