REP. BOEBERT: THERE IS ZERO TRUTH TO THESE HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE ALLEGATIONS
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A spokesperson for Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said today there is zero truth to the allegations in a politically motivated September 17 filing to the House Ethics Committee. The Congresswoman rejects the claims as utterly false.
Under House Committee on Ethics Rule 15, a complaint may not be filed within 60 days of an election in which the Member is a candidate. This filing was submitted inside that window. The Committee is required to return it.
The same rule also provides that a submission from a non-Member is not a complaint unless a Member of the House certifies in writing that it was made in good faith and warrants the Committee’s review. No Member has provided that certification.
“Swearing to it does not make it a complaint,” the spokesperson said. “This was a political smear packaged as an ethics filing and published before anyone checked whether it even qualifies under the Committee’s rules.”
The press should stop treating that document as if it were an investigation. The allegations are false. The filing does not meet the Committee’s rules, and it follows the same pattern of recycled sensational claims previously fact-checked as false.

On September 19, a spokesperson for Rep. Boebert said: “Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false, and there is no truth to them whatsoever. This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait. They come from an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false.”
